I told you so!
Told you so! 🤪 My husband bought me a mini chainsaw to trim SMALL overhanging branches on our lifestyle block. Not a typical lady gift, but I love power tools 😂. And it came with husband instructions; “Katie, don’t do the larger branches as when the branch snaps your chainsaw could get stuck, OR the branch could swing out and take the ladder out from underneath you”.
So the next day, I set up my ladder underneath one of the tall oak trees and did the small branches. But the real danglers were connected to a large branch high in the oak tree... I kept staring at the easy solution which was to get that branch...🌳
As my confidence was elevated I thought “well, I could just TRY the larger ones...” I climbed to the top of the 🪜 and shimmied along the high branch and began to hack... then all of a sudden resounded an almightycraaaaaaack. 😳
The branch slowly fell and elegantly tapped my ladder over 🤦♀️. So I was stuck up the tree without an easy route down. As I sat there ‘stranded’, I had two thoughts:
1: instruction from someone who is experienced IS valuable 😏
2: now what? 🙀
We all have moments where we’re told what to do, and do the opposite. But in the failure (and the reflection of “man I should have listened” 😂) the only option is to learn and aim to not make the mistake again. So I shimmied back along the branch holding my chainsaw, and found a branch to dangle from, dropping a good height to the ground like a wobbly cat. Husband said “I told you so”. 🤪
Life lesson: instruction from experience is valuable, but if we don’t listen, the next step is to think “now what?”
Keep shining 🥳
Katie 🥰
